Process

How a job runs, from call to cars

  1. Enquiry

Tell us the suburb and what needs pouring, by phone or the form. We come back to you and set a time to see the block.

  2. Measure and quote

Levels, access, drainage and any Boroondara permits are worked out at the house. One fixed figure follows in writing, and it is the figure you pay.

  3. The build

Old surface out, the base corrected for the clay, steel placed, the council's crossover inspection where one applies, then the pour. One to two days for most homes.

  4. Cure and hand back

Joints cut, a week clear of vehicles, and exposed aggregate sealed once the concrete has cured properly.

Specification

How our concreting is built

Under a period frontage the invisible work matters most. Every quote through this site includes these four things. Full specification.

Preparation

The failed surface lifted, roots and soft clay dealt with, and a compacted base built before any concrete arrives. Skipping this is why the old surface failed.

Reinforcement

Steel mesh through every slab, upgraded where vehicles will stand, so the new surface outlives the one it replaced.

Drainage

Falls planned off the house wall from the first level taken, with a formed drain wherever a period block runs the wrong way.

Joints and cure

Control joints placed where the eye expects a line, a week without traffic, and exposed stone sealed once cured.

Questions we get every week

What does concreting cost in Camberwell?

Paths start at $90 per square metre, driveways span $95 to $185 by finish, patios $100 to $180, shed and garage slabs $110 to $150, and exposed aggregate holds the premium band at $130 to $185. Taking out an old surface first adds $35 per m², disposal included. Prices are guides until the site is measured; the written quote that follows does not change.

Do I need council approval for a new driveway?

The concrete on your own land usually does not need approval. The crossover between your boundary and the road needs a vehicle crossing permit from the City of Boroondara before it is built, widened or moved, and in a heritage overlay a planning permit can be required on top of that. What your job needs is confirmed in writing before anything is booked.

Will the finish suit a period or heritage home?

That is the point of choosing it properly. Stone, base colour and finish are selected from sample boards held against the house in daylight, so an exposed aggregate driveway can lift a red brick Federation frontage rather than fight it, and a coloured slab can pick up the render or the roofline. The finish options are set out on each service page.

Can you work with tight side access or shared driveways?

Yes. Narrow runs between the house and the fence, gaps under a metre and drives shared between two period homes are standard Boroondara conditions. Access is assessed at the site measure, concrete is pumped where a truck cannot reach, and shared work is agreed with both owners in writing before anything is cut.
